FAQ

  • Do I need a referral for PT?

There’s good news and bad news. The good news is that we can do a PT evaluation without a physician’s referral. The bad news is that if we need to extend care beyond a month, then we will have to obtain one. We also require a referral for dry needling. Either way, if you need help getting the referral, we will help you out with that. Usually, if you are up to date with your doctor’s visits, then you can just make a quick call, and your provider will fax one right over.

  • What if I just want dry needling?

Just like a dentist needs to do x-rays before doing a filling, your PT needs to complete an assessment (in the form of a PT evaluation) prior to pulling out the needles. Once we determine that needling is the right intervention, we can go for it. Again, we will do a PT evaluation first, and we will need a referral for this.

  • What if I want to use my insurance?

SuperHuman Therapy is an out of network clinic. We require payment for all services at the time of your appointment. We find that we are better able to provide the best quality care when we are not restricted by protocols created by a for-profit corporation (aka – insurance carriers). You can still request reimbursement on your own. We will provide you with a superbill which has all the necessary information to submit to your insurance company. We are also happy to walk you through the process of finding out what they will cover, and how to submit. All reimbursements will go directly to you!

  • Do you have free parking?

Yes! We are located on Cherokee Avenue, just a block away from Grant Park. There is street parking readily available, and it is all free. We don’t have a parking lot though, so get ready to practice your parallel parking!

  • I’m coming for pelvic floor PT, but I’m on my period. Do I need to reschedule?

Nope. We can evaluate and treat so many things, even when you’re on your period. If you’re not comfortable with internal assessment for any reason, then that can wait. For some folks, that means we only do external treatments. For others, that means we just delay the internal treatment for when we decide it’s more appropriate. When in doubt though, just call us and we are happy to discuss your concerns and answer more detailed questions.

  • You talk a lot about pelvic floor. Is that all you treat?

Definitely not. At SuperHuman, we treat the whole human – more specifically, orthopedic conditions in the whole human body. Yes, pelvic floor is something we talk about often because it often is something that gets overlooked. Sometimes the pelvic floor is the cause for pain that might seem like it’s coming from the low back or another body region. Sometimes though, knee pain is knee pain. In either scenario, we’re ready to help.
